Wood Totara.  Size Diameter 90mm x Height 90mm.  Embellished and painted.

A seven month project, my aim was to build a 1:1 scale 13b Mazda rotary engine that turns. With a footprint of 50cm x 50cm and 55cm high. Using Rimu, Mahogany, Beech, Oak, kauri and Elm finished with shellac. 

Segmented Jug made from Walnut, assembled in 5 sections, handle hand carved, 225mm high, 150mm wide without handle.  .Finished with Briwax

Carved from a single piece of macrocarpa. Inspired by wind-shaped dunes and slow movement of desert landscapes, the flowing grain reveals the invisible forces that shape both timber and terrain. Finish Tung oil and beeswax.   Height: 475mm, Depth: 85mm, Width: 85mm

Made from rimu and finished with danish oil. This ship is from the starwars series, Mandalorian. L 30cm, W 22cm, H 18cm.

Segmented Vase, made from 119 segmented rings. Total segments1428, 1560mm high 300mm wide. A very difficult and time consuming process .Made from Walnut, Maple, Mexican Alder, Ngaio, Pallet timber and Unknown. Finished with Briwax. 

Off-centre turned Blackwood and lancewood. Hand carved and then inlayed with marquetry wood veneers. 200mm x 150mm x 50mm

An idyllic Coromandel scene is the subject in this kauri picture frame platter.  The picture is pyrography with pencilled colouring. The finish is spray lacquer. Diameter is 290 and height is 19 mm.

A leaf and seeds fall on stones; symbolising the continuation of life.  Carvings are from a single block of kauri and are seated on a base of recycled totora.  Finish Danish oil.  250mm x 420mm x 100mm

This Moreton Bay Fig bowl highlights the timber’s warm, flowing grain, resting on a black-painted deer antler, together, they create a refined, natural character. Buffed to a sheen with Glow friction polish. 26cm Dia x 14cm H x 8mm thickness.

Turned from a piece of Macrocarpa then hand carved into an organic three legged piece, some say it looks like a kiwi. The strap foot is shaped from Pohutukawa and the finial foot turned from Jarrah. 160mm long,130mm wide.

Raw olive branch miniature Christmas trees, natural edge bases with bark in tact, Cook Islands black pearl finials, 120mm high, 75m diameter bases, green dye tops.

Turned Black Walnut sphere with two non intersecting turned tunnels.  Finish Dewaxed shellac with Yorkshire grit polish to 2000grit. Sphere 100mm dia.

Vessel made using open segment construction, comprising 1392 pieces of Maple, Rimu and Purpleheart.  Pattern inspired by a Tom Lohman design.  Finished with polyurethane.  Dimensions 230mm wide and 155mm high.

Upcycle an old well worn indoor bowling ball, hollow it out, add 12 pohutukawa staves with walnut feature. Add some walnut segment rings top and bottom and you have a sound enhancing speaker for an iphone.  Sanded to 300, Yorkshire grit and Beall to finish.  W(220)DIA(130)

This model is made out of pine and painted to match the appearance of the USS Kitty Hawk aircraft carrier.  L 127cm, W 32cm, H 36 cm

An off-centre turned drinking horn rests upon the bow of an off-centre turned Viking longship, secured by the prow. Mounted on a carved, subtly coloured base evoking the sea. Crafted from liquid amber and unknown wood. 170mm tall.
